Rabbi David Wall is a dynamic teacher of the Gospel and minister of God’s love. He is the founder of Torah’s Light Ministries [TLM], which exalts Jesus by sharing the Jewish roots of Christianity.
Born into a Conservative Jewish home, Rabbi David grew up with a love for God and His Torah. As an adult, he shifted his religious Jewish observance from Conservative to Reformed, and later to the more structured life of Orthodox Judaism.
His first knowledge of Christianity began at about age fifteen, when Rabbi David started developing an interest in the more logical aspects of Christian thought. Teachers like C.S. Lewis, Josh McDowell and Dr. Frank Morrison did much to lay the groundwork for the acceptance of Christ later in life, although - at the time - none had the ability to convince Rabbi David of the truth of Christ as Messiah.
It was not until 2004 that Rabbi David would come to that knowledge of God’s Grace in Christ Jesus. In his own words,
“I was living in Atlanta at the time, studying early Chasidic leaders under a rabbi in town, when I made the acquaintance of a Baptist gentleman named Ben. One day, Ben invited me to see the movie The Passion of the Christ with him. Respectfully, I declined, explaining that as a Jew, the movie held no interest for me. Thank God, Ben was persistent. He offered to buy the ticket - I declined again. He offered to buy me popcorn and a drink - I declined, saying I couldn’t eat or drink ‘movie food’, as it wasn’t kosher. Then he offered to take me to a kosher restaurant and buy my ticket. Come on - who doesn’t like a free meal?
I finally said yes."
"We ate a nice dinner and then went to see the film. Everyone - and I mean everyone - in the theatre was crying - sobbing, even. Everyone except me. I was too thunderstruck to cry. I had just spent the better part of two hours watching the entire tanakh unfold in front of me. Scripture after Scripture echoed in my mind as Christ fulfilled prophecy after prophecy during His Passion. By the end of the film, I knew: Jesus is the Messiah.”
It was soon after that Rabbi David felt the call to active ministry, and studied for ordination as a Christian minister. He found great joy in teaching the truth of Christ to all who would hear. His Jewish roots, however, kept calling him home.
“Living as a Jewish Christian is not easy. I heard from both Jews and Christians alike that I was no longer a Jew - a physical impossibility. Jews know they are Jews by virtue of their birth ; being a Jew is literally crafted by God into our DNA. As I often put it - ‘once a son of Abraham, always a son of Abraham’. The time came when my ministry shifted, and I knew God was calling me to minister TO Christians about the Jewish roots of their Faith.”
And today, this is exactly what Rabbi David and Torah’s Light Ministries seeks to do:
- Present the Scriptures in a definable and understandable way, from a Hebraic perspective
- Teach about Christian traditions which find their roots in Jewish traditions
- Present easy-to-understand material in conferences, workshops, seminars and other events which will allow Christians to deepen their love for Christ by understanding their own Jewish heritage as believers
Through all he does, Rabbit David Wall seeks to exalt Christ, Light of the Torah.
“Torah’s Light Ministries - ministry in general - is not about me. It is not about money; it is not about fame. It is about two things: exalting Jesus, and reaching people. As a minister, I represent Jesus; I am to be about His work, not my own. My ministry is to be an extension of His.”
Rabbi David believes Torah’s Light Ministries reason for existence is to provoke God’s people to holiness, to minister in the Name of Jesus, and to seek the unification of Jewish and Christian believers in Christ as Messiah, so that all the world may be covered in His Glory.
